Halifax, NS · Serving the Maritimes

For contractors by contractors.

Hardhat Webdesign is a small Halifax studio that builds for trade businesses exclusively. We know what a quote looks like, how a job gets won, and why a slow website quietly costs you both.

A full site crew lined up outside a half-finished building, with a hand-drawn yellow arrow labelled "This guy" pointing out our founder among them
Our story

Off the models, onto the site, back to the keyboard.

Our founder swapped building energy analysis for actual physical work — two years on a small residential team, then six months in commercial glazing. Long enough to notice that the trades doing the best work were the hardest ones to find online, and that plenty of good people wanted their own business without knowing how to start one.

Hardhat is the answer to both. Two friends, a pair of tech careers picked back up, and one kind of client — trade businesses in Halifax and right across the Maritimes.

  • We only take on trade and construction clients
  • Every quote is fixed before a single file is created

How we got here

Three years, one industry.

We have deliberately stayed small, stayed specialised, and stayed in the Maritimes. Here is roughly how we got from site work to the studio.

  1. 2023

    Onto residential sites

Two years on a small residential build team, working alongside subcontractors who delivered excellent work and had nothing online to show for it.

  2. 2025

    Into commercial construction

Six months in commercial glazing, on crews full of qualified people who wanted a business of their own and no clear way to make the leap.

  3. 2026

    Hardhat Webdesign full time

Two friends, two tech careers picked back up, and one kind of client — trade businesses that need a site worth having.

The crew

Two people you will actually speak to.

No account managers and no handoffs. The people who scope your project are the people who build it and the people who answer the phone afterwards.

Web Design & Development

Six months in a blue hard hat doing commercial construction, then two years on residential sites with no hard hat at all. Now he enjoys putting it on and taking it off, whichever the day calls for.

Graphics & Media Production

Six years in a white hard hat, but never more than a week a year — that is how often field duty as a telecom engineer actually put him on site. A white hard hat guy without giving off the white hard hat vibes.
